When Should I Start Trimming My Puppy's Nails?

April 30, 2018

Hopefully, your puppy's breeder or foster parent has already started working on paw handling and nail trimming before they come home with you. Either way, you should start working on this as soon as you bring your new baby home.

The earlier you start creating positive associations (yummy food) with paw handling and nail trimming, the better chance you'll have of your dog being comfortable with (and even enjoying) routine nail care, something they need for the rest of their life.

Check out the facebook group Positive Dog Husbandry for more resources on this important topic.
